Angela Sutcliffe is certified in the STOTT Pilates Mat and Reformer techniques and intends to continue training to achieve complete certification. She was introduced to Pilates when she became a dance major at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in May 2015. Aside from studies at both Wayne State University and Duke University in North Carolina, Angela has also intensively trained with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, T. Lang Dance, Stuart Singer, Roger Belman and Mark Haim. After graduation, she moved to New York City to pursue a professional dance career and has also worked for several notable fitness studios and master trainers throughout Manhattan.
As a dancer, Angela connected instantly with Pilates. Her passion for it grew after she realized how beneficial it is for everyone, including her mom who has rheumatoid arthritis. It is incredibly important to know your body and maintain it in its most functional and efficient form. Pilates does this through core strengthening, increasing mobility and stability, improving posture, and can also help with both injury prevention and rehabilitation.
